Flying with your dog or cat? Start with the dates.

Pet import rules aren't hidden — they're sequenced. Miss one deadline in the chain (microchip before rabies shot, blood test before the waiting period…) and your pet can be denied boarding or quarantined for months. Pick a route and a travel date; we turn the official rules into a dated checklist, backwards from your flight.

Pick your travel date to get a dated, backward-planned checklist. (This tool needs JavaScript; the full requirements are listed below either way.)

Route guides

Every route has a dog and a cat version — toggle species in the planner, or open a guide below.

From the United States

From the United Kingdom

From Canada

More routes are hand-verified against official government sources before they ship — no auto-generated rules, ever. Don't see yours yet? It's coming.

How it works

Each route's rules are written down as a small, auditable rule file built only from the official government requirements (USDA APHIS and the destination country's animal quarantine authority), with a visible "last verified" date. The planner does the date math backwards from your travel day — every deadline, in order, with the official source linked on every step. Free, no sign-up, nothing stored.

Disclaimer: Preflight Pet is a planning aid, not legal or veterinary advice. Import rules change; airlines add their own requirements. Always confirm every step with the official government sources linked on this page, and with your airline and accredited veterinarian, before booking travel.
